Joachim J. Tenuta, M.D. Dr. Tenuta is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with primary interests in sports medicine and general orthopaedics. Dr. Tenuta had an extensive career in the United States Army. His assignments included orthopaedic surgeon for the Army’s elite special operations detachment as well as Chief of Orthopaedics at Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany, developing the facility as the receiving point for all injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2010, he served as medical operations commander in Afghanistan for the Western Region. Dr. Tenuta spent a majority of his career at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY as a Team Physician and Clinical Instructor for the Army’s Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. He also served as deputy consultant to the Army’s Surgeon General and retired at the rank of Colonel. After graduating from West Point, he received his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed his Orthopaedic Residency at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) where he serves on the Enduring Education Committee, Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOMOS). Dr. Tenuta sees patients at the Albany, and Latham offices.
