Richard L. Uhl, M.D.

Dr. Richard Uhl specializes in hand and upper extremity as well as trauma orthopaedics. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery. Dr. Uhl is Professor of Surgery and Residency Program Director and Head of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery of Albany Medical College (AMC).

Dr. Uhl received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in 1984. His internship and residency program was completed at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Uhl returned to Jefferson Medical College to complete his fellowship on Hand Surgery.

Dr. Uhl has numerous memberships in professional societies, including the American Orthopaedic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, New York State Society for Surgery of the Hand, Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and the AO Alumni Association. Dr. Uhl has been awarded the "Golden Apple" Teaching Award three times, he has been listed in "The Best Doctors in America," “Best Doctors in the Hudson Valley,” and “Best Doctors in the Capital District” since 1998. His name also appeared in "Who's Who in America."

The full-time faculty of the AMC Division of Orthopaedics combined their clinical practices with Capital Region Orthopaedics in 1999.

Dr. Uhl sees patients at the Albany office.
