Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) are facilities where surgeries that do not require a hospital admission are performed. Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery: including gum, water, mints, or vitamins unless your anesthesiologist has given you special instructions stating otherwise. This is very important for your safety. If you do not follow this rule, your procedure may have to be delayed or rescheduled. If your child is having surgery, your anesthesiologist will discuss special feeding instructions. If you are taking medications, your anesthesiologist will give you instructions on what you should do. What clothing should I wear? Wear comfortable clothing that you can change easily and will not bind the site of your surgery. Please remove all jewelry and watches prior to surgery. It is best to leave all jewelry and valuables at home. Please remove all make-up, nail polish and contact lenses if your wear them. What medications should I take? Please inform your physician and the Surgery Center Nursing staff of any medications you may be taking.
